Why Parents Trust Us

Six reasons families choose
Legends for their little legends.

Children's dentistry isn't just smaller adult dentistry. It requires specialised training, infinite patience, and a genuine love for working with kids — which is exactly what our paediatric-trained team brings to every visit.

Specialised training

Dr Rouba holds a 3-year postgraduate Diploma in Paediatric Dentistry — formal qualification dedicated solely to children's oral health, child psychology, and behaviour management.

Gentle care philosophy

We follow an evidence-based approach to reduce dental anxiety, especially at the first visit. No rushing — we take the time your child needs to feel comfortable and safe.

Inclusive care for all kids

Every child deserves quality care, regardless of their abilities:

  • Autism-friendly visits with sensory accommodations
  • Communication for non-verbal patients
  • Adaptive positioning for physical disabilities

Decades of experience

15+ years treating young patients, with experience from leading practices and hospitals across Australia and overseas. Over 500 successful treatments for anxious and special-needs patients.

Advanced paediatric treatments

Treatments general dentists usually refer out — handled here:

  • Pulpotomy & root canal therapy
  • Stainless steel crowns
  • Space maintainers
  • Early orthodontic treatment

Education for life

Our mission goes beyond treatment. We educate every little legend on healthy oral habits, preventive care, and brushing technique — building confident smiles that last a lifetime.

Our family couldn't be happier with the care we've received at Legends Dental. Dr Rouba is incredibly warm, patient, and especially wonderful with kids — my children actually feel comfortable going to the dentist. You can tell she genuinely cares about her patients.

"

We had an amazing experience today. My son has a severe dental phobia and after seeing many dentists, this was the first time he felt comfortable enough to open his mouth. She was patient, calm, and incredibly gentle — taking everything at his pace. Highly recommend, especially for children with anxiety.

Your Child's First Visit

What to expect.

We've designed every first visit around your child's comfort. Here's exactly what happens, step by step, so you both know what to expect before you arrive.

01

Welcome & meet

A warm hello from the team. Your child gets time to settle in, meet Dr Rouba, and see the surgery without any pressure to start.

02

Tour the chair

Dr Rouba shows your child the dental tools using friendly names and a plush dragon, so nothing feels scary or unfamiliar.

03

Gentle check-up

A short examination at your child's pace. If they're not ready, we go slower. The goal is a positive first experience, not a complete check-up.

FAQ

Common parent
questions.

The most frequent questions we hear from parents — answered honestly, based on Australian Dental Association guidelines.

Book first visit →
When should my child first visit a dentist? — 01
The Australian Dental Association recommends children have their first dental visit by age 1 or within 6 months of their first tooth appearing. Early visits establish a "dental home" and help prevent future dental problems through education and monitoring.
How often should kids visit the dentist? — 02
Most children should visit every 6 months for check-ups. Children at higher risk of decay or with special needs may benefit from more frequent visits — your dentist will advise based on your child's individual risk profile.
What's covered under the Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS)? — 03
Medicare provides eligible children up to $1,158 in dental benefits every two calendar years. CDBS-covered treatments include general check-ups, cleaning, X-rays, fillings, root canals, and extractions. Orthodontics, cosmetic work, and hospital-based services are not covered. We'll check your child's eligibility and handle the paperwork.
Are baby teeth really that important? — 04
Yes — baby teeth are crucial for proper chewing, speech development, and holding space for permanent teeth. Early loss of baby teeth can lead to orthodontic problems and affect your child's confidence as their adult teeth come through.
Are dental X-rays safe for children? — 05
Yes. Dental X-rays use minimal radiation — less than a single day of natural background radiation. We use digital X-rays which reduce exposure by 80–90% compared to traditional films, and we only take them when clinically necessary.
What toothpaste should my child use? — 06
Under 18 months: water only, no toothpaste
18 months to 5 years: low-fluoride children's toothpaste, pea-sized amount
6 years and older: regular fluoride toothpaste
Look for the ADA Approved symbol. Higher-risk children may benefit from different fluoride concentrations as advised by their dentist.
My child has special needs. Can you accommodate them? — 07
Absolutely. Dr Rouba has specific expertise in autism-friendly visits with sensory accommodations, communication techniques for non-verbal patients, and adaptive positioning for physical disabilities. Please mention your child's needs when booking so we can prepare appropriately.
